In the finishing stage, I changed the base to triangle shape. there are three supporting point stand on the floor. And than the main standard is connected in the middle of the base. I cut the large PVE piece into two same long part. and connect them with small PVC piece.

In the early stage, I was just playing with the structure of standard. The base I made was a circle by connecting with 6 little PVC pieces. Each piece has degree. Therefore, it will become into a circle shape. Except those little PVC part, I also have a long one which is around 35 inches. This is what I used for the main standard. On the one side of this part is the light bulb, and another side is the circle base.

Post three is about how I start to build this pipe light up. the first step is shopping materials. Things on my list are metal water pipes, Homewerx filament light bulb. Looks really simple. But when i actually went in to home depot to get pipes, the price is much more expensive than my budget. So I changed my material getting PVC pipe instead. These type of pipes are white and made of plastic. my plan is the standard is metal. To create metal feeling, I bought flat black spray paint as well. than I went to Homewerx, the store selling the special light bulb. Unfortunately, they don't salt this light bulb anymore. After this store, I went to some other store searching for my light bulb as well. But i didn't get anything… Plan delayed.

My object is a floor lamp as decoration. The inspiration is from filament light bulbs. This type of light bulbs are using same design as Edison bulbs. There are also another type of light bulbs called incandescent bulb, which is the regular and modern one we see in nowadays. The difference is that filament bulb is not really bright, and won't hurt your eye, if you look at it directly. "'Edison' bulbs look different because instead of double-wrapping six feet of tungsten filament into a tight coil, they have the filament stretched out and visible, formed into scribbly lines or primitive shapes". This type of light still exist after more than a hundred years. In nowadays, filament bulbs become to vintage decoration elements.

ENGL201 Final Project: Blog post 1
IntroductionThe object I will making is FLOOR LAMP. The idea came from a home decor store that i walked by few days ago. The store is called Home Werx. It is really stylishly and modern. The mainly colour of their goods and the interior decoration colour are all white black and grey. it is really attractive. In their lighting section, they sell filament bulb with three different kind of vintage filament pattern. They said the bulb is designed as same technique and materials used in early Edison bulbs.

So my inspiration is from this light bulb. I'm thinking to make a standing base for it. the base will be metal frame, and the bulb is no cover. I hope the metal frame can maintain the same style as the vintage filament bulb feeling. The problem is the light bulb generates a warm glow at a low light level which is like 15 watt. I might make the frame with more light bulb input.
